Crisis, a six-part drama that’s been billed as a “gripping” watch, has just landed a new UK streaming home on ITVX. The S4C show’s original Welsh title is Creisis, and the drama first aired in 2024.
The logline for the series reveals that the story is centred on a “psychiatric nurse in the Welsh Valleys” who “cares for the community’s most vulnerable while grappling with his own dark thoughts”.
Crisis was written by Anwen Huws, co-writer of Eve Myles’ Keeping Faith and the writer of Still Waters – also known as The Light in the Hall.
Gwydion Rhys stars as the main character of psychiatric nurse Jamie, marking the actor’s his first lead role in TV drama.
“Jamie is central to every scene in the drama and, although that was quite intense at times, I tried to use that intensity of the filming schedule to add to the performance,” Rhys explained.
“Jamie is an erratic character and very emotional, but I hope that the audience will sympathize with him,” the actor later added. “It was a pleasure to play the role and I made sure to appreciate the chance to be on set every day.”

The main character is said to be “straining his ability to juggle home life, work life and past trauma. The arrival of the new boss may tip him over the edge”.
The cast also includes Hannah Daniel (Keeping Faith), Sara Gregory (Torchwood), Alex Harries (The Light in the Hall, Keeping Faith), Richard Elis (The Pact) and Arwel Gruffydd (Y Sŵn, Hedd Wyn).
A Boom Cymru production, filmed on location in Bridgend and Pontypridd, Creisis came from the joint production team that was also behind the BBC’s Men Up, which starred Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), Alexandra Roach (Lazarus) and Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacey).
With all six episodes of Crisis now streaming on ITVX, featuring in its “Fresh In” section, it could just be the weekend binge-watch that you’ve been looking for.

Also current on the platform is the new season of Sophie Rundle’s hit ITV crime drama After the Flood, which some fans have already made their way through and are now turning their attention to a potential season three.
There’s also a binge-worthy mystery drama that’s been drawing How to Get Away with Murder comparisons streaming now in full.
