90 min: Burnley 2-1 Tottenham For the second Saturday in succession, the Spurs supporters (sic) are singing, ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Thomas Frank.

ShareRed card! Sheff Utd 3-1 Ipswich

Sheffield United captain Patrick Bamford, who scored their third goal, has now been sent off after receiving a second yellow card. I think it was for diving but there’s a lot going on. Also: 3pm blackout.

On this day in 1981… Everton put Liverpool out of the FA Cup.

ShareGOAL! Burnley 2-1 Tottenham (Foster 76)

A big goal for Burnley in their fight against relegation – and a nightmare for Thomas Frank. The substitute Lyle Foster has scored at the second attempt after superb play from Jaidon Anthony, who beat Van de Ven on the edge of the area before putting Foster through on goal.

“Great call on the Whiteside GBH video (3.17pm),” writes Peadar de Burca. “A player who according to those in Belfast who saw him as a young teenager, was an absurdly skilled goal-machine. Apparently, a less than competent physio ruined his pelvis and big Norm had to change his playing style to a mixture of Souness circa 1984 and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. You get the feeling from watching your clip that he got just as much craic from leaving the leg in as scoring belters against the Scousers.”

And even more pleasure from leaving the leg in against the Scousers.

Disallowed goal! Fulham 1-1 Brighton An excellent finish from Danny Welbeck gives Bright- ah, he was fractionally offside and it’s been ruled out by VAR. As you were.

Championship round-up

Middlesbrough moved to within three points of Championship leaders Coventry by heaping more misery on 10-man Preston at the Riverside.

Alan Browne returned to haunt his former club by putting Boro ahead, while Tommy Conway and Morgan Whittaker exploited defensive lapses to put Boro three up at half-time. Jordan Storey was red-carded shortly after the resumption and Conway rounded off the scoring to give Middlesbrough a fourth league victory in a row.

ShareGOAL! Hull 2-1 Swansea (Cullen 59)

At the evocatively named MKM Stadium, Liam Cullen has scored to give Swansea a snifter of hope.

“Maybe I was a bit hasty about Aberdeen v Livingston,” writes our bowls correspondent Simon McMahon. “The Dons took an early lead, then thought they had gone further ahead only for VAR to intervene. Bottom of the table Livingston then scored twice in quick succession to turns things round, only for Kevin Nisbet to then scored twice two of his own in first half stoppage time to make it 3-2 at half time. Still, not a patch on the bowls, where the excitement on semi-finals day has almost reached coma pitch.”

85 min: Bayern 1-2 Augsburg We’re not able to watch the Bayern game (see blackout, Saturday, 3pm) but the stats suggest their comeback is no fluke. In the second half they’ve had six shots on target to Bayern’s one.

Half time: Man City 2-0 Wolves

That Antoine Semenyo goal was superbly taken. Bernardo Silva rapped a pass into him on the edge of the area, and two touches later the ball was into the net. He lost Ladislav Krejci with his first touch and lashed a low shot into the net with his second. Not sure how you defend against that.

“Hi Rob,” writes Alun Pugh. “Thought that the 3pm blackout only applied to us mere mortals but journalists and broadcasters had live feeds.

“I imagined you in a Bond villain bunker deep underneath Guardian HQ surrounded by walls of screens showing everything from the Premier League to the clash between Penrhyncoch and Brickfield Rangers in the Cymru North It’s 1-0 btw at 80 mins.”
