Freddie Potts seemingly has a very bright future lying ahead of him with West Ham United.

And Peter Crouch has been very impressed by what he has seen from Potts whenever he’s played for the Hammers.

However, have the West Ham fans been equally impressed by the 22-year-old midfielder?

Potts – the son of club legend Steve – has been given plenty of chances with the Hammers first-team this season.

Urmmmmm….what?! How would you feel if West Ham SOLD Summerville to Spurs?! 🤔

He has been very solid indeed, for the most part. However, whenever Potts has underperformed for West Ham he has always owned it and apologised to the fans after.

Potts dreams of remaining with West Ham for the rest of his career.

But is he really good enough to do just that?

Peter Crouch shares what West Ham fans have told him about Freddie Potts

Potts has very much been a fixture in the first-team squad at the London Stadium this season.

When speaking on TNT Sports on Saturday (January 24th, 11:53am), the former Liverpool and Tottenham striker lifted the lid on what he’s been hearing about Potts from the West Ham fans.

“The many West Ham fans I have spoken to would like to see him more regularly in the middle alongside Fernandes,“ Crouch revealed.

“I think he’s done very well. He’s someone they can relate to.

“With Declan Rice recently, Mark Noble, when I was playing that West Ham academy, the players coming through there, Rio, Frank, Defoe, Glen Johnson, Joe Cole, so many great names.

“That’s something this club was built on and that needs to remain the case. I think Potts is just another one in a long line.“

Potts is a very solid operator, but he has a long way to go if he is to emulate any of the names mentioned above by Crouch.

It could be argued that he needs to add more verticality to his passing in order to reach the next level.

However, he’s more than good enough to contribute for the Hammers right now, especially given their current situation.

The West Ham fans always back young players who’ve come through the academy to the hilt.

Potts will always have the support of the West Ham fans as long as he gives 100 per cent every single time he steps on the pitch.

And judging by what we’ve seen from him so far, that will never be an issue.
