A Flood Warning — meaning flooding is expected and immediate action is required — is currently in force for the Tidal Fal Estuary, covering Falmouth, Penryn, Flushing, Perranarworthal and Tresillian.

High tides are predicted to cause flooding this evening, with the risk peaking two hours either side of high tide on Friday, January 23. Property flooding is expected.

Areas at risk include Penryn Commercial Road, low-lying areas of Mylor Bridge, the Norway Inn at Perranarworthal, the Pandora Inn at Restronguet, and the A390 at Tresillian.

High tide at Falmouth is due at 8.03pm on Friday, with total high tide levels forecast at 2.66m AOD and tide levels between 0.8m and 0.9m above tide table predictions. Offshore wave heights of around 6 metres, driven by Force 8 south-easterly winds, are expected.

Residents are urged to take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through floodwater.

Further Flood Warnings are in place for the South Cornwall coast from Gribbin Head to Rame Head, and from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head. Flood Alerts will remain in place until at least Saturday morning’s high tide.

Affected areas include Fowey, Golant, Lostwithiel, Lerryn, Polruan, Polperro, Looe, the Looe Rivers, Seaton, and locations from Coverack to Par including the tidal Helford Estuary, Falmouth, St Mawes, Gorran Haven, Portmellon, Mevagissey and Pentewan.
