A road was closed after a serious crash involving two vehicles. Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the collision in Ashton-under-Lyne on Sunday evening.
Ladbrooke Road was closed following the crash at the junction of Sycamore Crescent just before 6.30pm tonight (Sunday, January 25, 2026). Pictures from the scene showed a rapid response ambulance at the scene as well as firefighters and police officers.
The front end of two saloon cars appeared to have suffered significant damage, with one damaged car ending up in the middle of the road near a roundabout while the other ended in a garden after ploughing through a hedge.
The road was closed while an investigation into the incident was launched. Moments after the collision residents reporting hearing the police helicopter overhead.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly before 6.30pm on Sunday 25 January, one fire engine from Stalybridge Community Fire Station was called to attend a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Ladbrooke Road, Ashton-under-Lyne.
“Our crew arrived quickly and worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for a comment.
