And now Lowestoft is being associated with elves and evil orcs thanks to a set of new books set in the town.
A fast-paced romance fantasy adventure series complete with magic and danger and town landmarks is proving a hit.
They are by Alice Taylor – a former mayor of Lowestoft, businesswoman and a trustee of the Excelsior Trust.
She is now an author, after penning The Return of the Tribes’ fantasy fiction series.

Image: The Rum Lot/ Alice Taylor (Image: The Rum Lot) Ms Taylor, the proprietor of The Rum Lot bauble shop on London Road South, Kirkley has added another dimension to her various activities by writing a fantasy romance adventure about a woman living in modern Lowestoft.
Set in the modern world but featuring elves and orcs, The Return of the Tribes is a 13-book cycle of fantasy adventure and romance books.

She has trained and worked in Military Intelligence as a Russian language interceptor, in marketing and advertising, and as a lecturer in digital graphics, animation and video game design.
With a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Ms Taylor is a qualified teacher in both the USA and the UK.

“It all got out of hand.
“So the promotion turned into a story and the story turned into a book and now I have a whole completed series and a full story cycle of fantasy romance books.”
The first four books in the series – The Queen and Elves Come Here Anon, I Do Wander Everywhere, And I Serve The Fairy Queen and A Venturous Fairy – are now available.
