Today, LEGO listed on their website five new Star Wars LEGO SMART Play sets. Shared by plastic bricks reporter JaysBrickBlog (hat tip), the sets will include a new Millennium Falcon set which will bring play to life with interactive lights and sounds in combination with LEGO’s new SMART Brick.
Earlier this month, LEGO unveiled their latest innovation – SMART Play, sets which include a special SMART Brick equipped with lights, speakers and motion detection, designed to interact with special tiles called SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures to bring play to life with lights and sounds – enabling the sets to make engine, blaster or lightsaber sounds or even play classic John Williams themes depending what is in close proximity to the SMART Brick.
LEGO unveiled three Star Wars sets to launch their new system – Luke’s Red Five X-wing, Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced and the Throne Room duel – these have been dubbed ‘All-in-One’ sets, as they feature SMART Bricks as well as minifigures and tiles. A further five sets have been announced – all recreating classic moments from the original trilogy. These sets are labelled SMART Play Compatible as they include SMART Minifigures and Tags but not the SMART Brick required to bring them to life, and will require fans to also purchase one of the original sets to activate the interactive features.
LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Millennium Falcon
It was inevitable that the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy would get a SMART Play set. The 885-piece set builds the famous ship, with a space for the SMART Brick directly behind the cockpit. The image shows a lever which presumably interacts with the light sensor in the brick to activate a sound or effect. The set has a full interior, including a dejarik table and a training area with a SMART Tag to generate lightsaber sounds. The set includes four SMART Tags, including what looks like a Hyperspace sound tag and four SMART minifigures – Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker and C-3PO.
LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Luke’s Landspeeder
This smaller 215-piece set features Luke Skywalker and the X-34 Landspeeder he used on Tatooine before taking his first steps into a larger world, as well as a repair and refueling station for added interaction. The set includes one SMART Tag for the Landspeeder, one SMART Minifigure – Luke Skywalker, and Jawa and Gonk Droid minifigures.
LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Mos Eisley Cantina
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than this 666-piece set, which recreates the iconic cantina, complete with the Modal Nodes band and Greedo sitting in the booth. If you want to decide who shot first, you’ll have to purchase Han Solo separately. The set has a sliding door entrance and also a patrolling Stormtrooper riding a Ronto. The set features three SMART Tags, one for the Ronto, one which plays music behind the band, and another which I think goes with the food station. Two SMART Minifigures – Obi-Wan Kenobi and Greedo – are included, as well as Stormtrooper and Bith Musician minigifures.
LEGO SMART Play AT-ST Attack on Endor
Recreate the battle on the forest moon with this 347-piece set, featuring a massive AT-ST, which can make blaster sounds if equipped with a SMART Brick, towering over an Ewok warrior. The set also includes a speeder bike from the epic chase scene. The set includes two SMART Tags, one for the AT-ST and one for the speeder bike, one SMART Minifigure Ewok, as well as Scout Trooper and AT-ST Driver minifigures.
LEGO SMART Play Yoda’s Hut and Jedi Training
This 440-piece set features Yoda’s Hut and a training area for Luke to fully embrace his Jedi training. The set has a moving frame to balance objects on to simulate Luke lifting objects with the Force, and even a hidden handle, so that Luke can do handstands and other fun details such as a knobby white spider. The set includes two SMART Tags – one for Yoda’s cooking and one for the Force training, two SMART Minifigures – Yoda and Luke Skywalker, and an R2-D2 minifigure.
LEGO Star Wars SMART Play sets are available to pre-order now.
