Hibs are reportedly in talks with Hellas Verona after a £6million bid for Kieron Bowie.
Record Sport revealed previously that the Easter Road chiefs that Hibs are bracing themselves for big-money European bids for the striker before the end of the transfer window. Earlier this month, Ibrox decision-makers registered an interested in the Scotland cap, while Celtic requested updates on the 23-year-old’s status should there be transfer movement.
And on Tuesday, Hibs kicked out an initial £5million offer from the Italian side – as Record Sport revealed the Serie A side were told to up their bid for the frontman. Bowie has hit nine goals for Hibs and is a key figure for David Gray’s side.
The Sun now report that Verona have are ironing out the final details of a £6million plus add ons bid with Bowie inching towards the exit. The Premiership side have been in no rush to sell but are now set to allow the 23-year-old to leave and pen a long-term deal with the Italian side before the deadline.
Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News on Wednesday, boss Gray talked up the potential of the striker, and pledged to help the striker while he is still at the club: “He’s only 23 still, but he’s a real old head on young shoulders. He is very mature, he is very grounded, a humble boy.
“I don’t see it affecting anything. I just see him coming in, working hard.
“And he’s still got a lot of improvement to come. So that’s my focus as much as I can, is to try and make him better and make sure he keeps buying into that, which he is.
“With all the speculation, until that becomes something we need to change, or he’s no longer at the football club, I just have to try and keep improving him as a player.”
Hellas Verona previously did business with Hibs back in 2022 when they bought current Scotland cap Josh Doig from them. He has since moved on to Sassuolo.
