Go behind the scenes with creator and first-time director Kevin Williamson in the new featurette for Paramount Pictures’ Scream 7.

“Hello, Sidney.” Yes, those famous words have haunted us ever since the first film opened in 1996. They prompt us to put on our best Ghostface impression. How many times have you heard someone try and pull it off? Or have seen or heard it spoofed over the years? After thirty years, you would have thought we would have heard the end of it by now. Not so. Why? Because Ghostface is back, baby! Pulling on his/her costume and preparing to dial once again, this February sees the release of Scream 7.

After missing the previous instalment for well-known reasons, Neve Campbell is back as the eponymous heroine, Sidney Prescott. She is reprising her role for the sixth time and for the fifth time as the franchise lead. Rejoining her for this seventh chapter are Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding. Also returning are the previously killed versions of Ghostface, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley. Also making his return is David Arquette as Dewey Riley. Exactly how these deceased characters return remains to be seen. New additions to the cast include Isabel May, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, McKenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons, and Mark Consuelos.  Don’t answer the phone; a new featurette with director Kevin Williamson for the film is calling us below.

THE PREMISE

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realised as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

The new movie is directed by the franchise’s creator, Kevin Williamson, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Guy Busick, from a story by James Vanderbilt and Busick. After the success of the sixth film in the series, we all expected to see the sequel in cinemas sooner. Of course, things never pan out the way you expect. After the firing of Melissa Barrera, the departure of Jenna Ortega, and the departures of Scream (2022) and Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Christopher Landon stepped in, only to decide to walk away as well.

Legacy Characters Reunite on the Latest Poster for Scream 7

Now, all eyes rest on Williamson and his ability to bring this new chapter of the long-running slasher movie series to the screen. If anyone knows how to handle the property, it is he. Who better to deliver a cut above the usual slasher sequel fare than the creator himself? Can he pull it off? Could he deliver the quintessential Scream sequel? Will he manage to bring the franchise back to its bloodthirsty best?
