Looks like someone is growing up! A video of baby elephant learning how to use her trunk is the absolute cutest. She’s just figuring it out! I mean, I totally get it. If you suddenly realized that you had a trunk coming out of your face, you’d be so excited to use it too!
A guest at the Blackpool Zoo in Blackpool, England was absolutely tickled when she noticed that the smallest elephant in the enclosure was testing out her trunk. What a cutie!
She was just copying what her parents were doing, that’s what makes this so adorable! The baby elephant and the two adults were spraying sand on themselves at the zoo to keep cool. It looks like the little elephant was learning how to use hers right!

This is truly such a perfect family moment. I bet her mom and dad won’t forget the day she learned to use her trunk.
“Caught this incredible moment @Blackpool Zootoday!” the woman wrote in the video’s caption. “The moment the baby realizes she can do the same as the big elephants and throw sand on herself too,” she added.
It really is a treat! People in the comments section were so obsessed with the little elephant and her parents.
“I could never be a zookeeper because I’d be fired by my first break for trying to put like 15 animals in my car,” joked one commenter.
“The cutest little dirt poofs,” someone else praised.
“She’s imitating her mom with her little trunk!” chimed in another person.
While yet another commenter was sure they could sneak a baby elephant home with them: “I could put ‘em in my spare room,” they teased.
What Do Elephant Trunks Do?
Without a doubt an elephant’s most distinctive feature is their trunk. They’re so neat! But what do trunks do anyway? That’s a great question. Trunks serve lots of functions, like feeding and drinking an elephant. It also helps them smell and is used to communicate with other elephants. So you see? Trunks are very important!
