With less than a week remaining in the transfer window, Leeds United will have to act quickly if they are to strengthen their Premier League survival attempt.

The Whites have been on an 11-game unbeaten run since the start of December, which has catapulted them out of the relegation zone and now sit five points clear of the drop zone.

Daniel Farke has certainly exceeded expectations in the role at Elland Road in recent months, with the German certainly saving his job despite huge rumours around his future a few weeks ago.

As a result of the recent revival in Yorkshire, the hierarchy could look to back him in the market to help get the job done and maintain their top-flight status for another year.

Facundo Buonanotte has been the only senior addition to date, but that could all be about to change in the coming days if recent rumours are to be believed.

Leeds now targeting a move for a 10-goal talisman

In an attempt to bolster the frontline this winter, Jorgen Strand Larsen has been Leeds’ main target in recent weeks, even leading to a £30m bid being submitted for his services.

However, such a move was rejected out of hand by Wolves, with Rob Edwards’ side demanding a fee in the region of £40m to part ways with the 25-year-old.

Despite the interest from Farke’s side, Crystal Palace appear to have won the race for the Norwegian’s signature, after having an offer worth £50m accepted.

Such a move will be a bitter blow for the Whites, but it appears as though they have quickly turned their attention to a move to land Genk star Hyeon-Gyu Oh before Monday’s deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds have been one of the clubs monitoring the 24-year-old’s progress after netting 10 times so far during the 2025/26 campaign.

The report also states that Fulham are another keen on a deal to land the South Korean international, with both sides vying to secure his signature this window.

Such an article goes on to confirm that the attacker could be sold by the Belgian outfit, but it doesn’t state how much a deal could cost any interested party.

Why Oh would be Farke’s next Pukki at Leeds

During his managerial career, Farke has previously led other clubs to success, subsequently relying on Teemu Pukki to provide the goods in the Championship during his time at Norwich City.

The Finnish international moved to Carrow Road on a free transfer from Brondby IF back in the summer of 2018, after previously failing to impress at Scottish giants, Celtic.

He notched 30 goals in all competitions during his debut year in East Anglia, firing them to promotion before reaching double figures in the top flight despite the eventual relegation.

In total, he netted 88 goals in 210 games for the Norfolk outfit, with 70 of those coming in just 138 games under the current Leeds boss, subsequently netting double figures in all of his seasons at Carrow Road.

There’s no denying that Farke had a huge impact on the striker during their time together, with the German able to do the same with Oh should he complete his own move to Elland Road.

Like Pukki, he failed to cut it during his time at Celtic Park, subsequently scoring just 12 goals during his 47 appearances across his two-year stint in Glasgow.

However, his move to Gent has taken his career to the next level, with the 24-year-old currently sitting on a staggering 22 goals in his 71 appearances for the Belgian club.

His underlying stats also showcase his impressive form in the final third of the pitch, with Farke having the chance to emulate his time working alongside the Finnish international.

The South Korean has registered 2.1 shots on target per 90 so far this campaign, whilst placing 49% of the shots he’s taken on target – subsequently ranking him in the top 4% of all players in the league.

The aforementioned figures showcase his talent in front of goal, with the numbers potentially making him the perfect alternative after missing out on Strand Larsen.

He’s also completed 81% of the passes he’s attempted, whilst creating 1.4 chances per 90 – which also ranks him in the top 10% of all players in Belgium this season.

It’s evident from the figures stated that he’s a superb all-round option, which could see him score alone or provide the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin with chances to increase his own tallies.

Oh’s talents in the final third are further reflected in his tally of 55% dribbles completed this season, whilst also registering 7.2 touches in the opposition box per 90.

There’s no doubt that Strand Larsen would have been many fans’ first choice this winter, but after missing out on his signature, it’s crucial that the hierarchy don’t let it affect their business.

As for Oh, he’s demonstrated in Belgium this campaign that he would be a superb addition for the Whites in their hunt to secure Premier League status.

Should he make the move to Yorkshire and emulate the levels of Pukki under Farke, it would be a sensational addition and one that would transform the club’s attacking department.
