The Border City Amateur Boxing Club prospect is in action in Nottingham on Sunday in the England Youth Championships national quarter-finals.
McKnight, 16, will take on Midlands champion Zack Sewell from Newark Amateur Boxing Club as the young Cumbrian aims to take a step further towards the national title.
The Carlisle boxer had been due to box for the North West title two weeks ago, but his opponent from Manchester pulled out.
That left McKnight as the regional champion in the 70kg category.
He was then due to face the Yorkshire champion in Bridlington last weekend but another withdrawal cost him the chance of another bout.
“It’s been frustrating for Aiden, as he’s been in training right through the Christmas period,” said Border City coach Ian Archibald.
“It’s good to get some momentum in these championships but unfortunately we’ve been unlucky with pull-outs.
“But he has had some really good sparring and is fit and ready to go on Sunday.”
