An investigation has been launched into an explosion in a Derbyshire street which caused extensive damage inside a detached house and forced neighbours to evacuate.
Emergency services, including police and fire, were called to the incident in Summerfield Road, Boythorpe, at about 2.50pm on Friday (January 30). Police officers discovered a suspected cannabis grow inside the property.
A 32-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated for burns that are thought to be life-changing.
People inside two homes either side of the property were evacuated as a precaution but were not injured and have since been allowed to return to their properties.
Work has been undertaken to make the scene safe and secure.
A joint investigation between Derbyshire police and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has been launched into the incident and the scene was cordoned off on Saturday morning.
A Derbyshire police statement said: “Residents living nearby may have heard a loud bang yesterday afternoon but we would like to reassure members of the public that there is no wider threat or danger to the public.
“We are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward.
“Of particular interest is anyone with CCTV, Ring doorbell or dash cam footage which covers the scene and has not already spoken to officers.”
Information can be passed to the police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 26000059041.
