Jack Grealish had his say on David Moyes’ jubilant celebrations as he continued to track Everton’s progress despite his injury.

The playmaker looks set to require surgery on the stress fracture to his foot – something Moyes has conceded could rule him out for the rest of the season.

With the loanee set to return to parent club Manchester City in the summer, that could mean Grealish has played his final game for the Blues.

While the 30-year-old starts out on the long battle to return to fitness, he is still tracking Everton’s fortunes and offered another glimpse into the relationship that helped him rekindle his love for football this season.

Sharing footage of Moyes’ reaction to Beto’s 97th minute equaliser at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday – a response that saw the manager leap onto the pitch and start dancing – Grealish wrote on Instagram: “Makes me happy this. What a guy man.”

Both Grealish and Moyes have spoken fondly of their relationship since his summer move to Merseyside, with the player crediting the manager, club and its fanbase for reviving his career after a tough season at the Etihad. That looks set to last beyond the cruel blow to Grealish, whose impact at Everton had been integral to turning around the club’s fortunes after recent seasons of survival fights.

Grealish will remain with Everton through the rest of the campaign, with the club continuing to pay a significant part of his wages due to their not being an option to terminate the loan deal early due to injury.

Whether he will wear Royal Blue again may depend on whether talks over a permanent move – something Moyes has expressed an interest in – take place in the summer. Even if he does not, the indications are he has formed an attachment to Moyes and the club.

As for Moyes, his response to being booked for his celebration has gone viral. When asked whether he would celebrate in such fashion again, he told reporters: “I bloody will do it, again. Actually, I think if I had been a bit more mobile, I might have done a knee slide. That would have only got me a yellow as well. So I might as well have gone the whole hog.”
