The match takes place on Friday, 6th February 2026, at the Fibrus Community Stadium (Derwent Park), with kick-off scheduled for 7.30pm.
Paul Rowley’s first competitive fixture as Head Coach of St.Helens will see his side take on Betfred Championship side Workington, in the first meeting between the two sides since the 1996 season.
It is somewhat fitting that the Saints will begin the 2026 season with a visit to Derwent Park, which is how the club kicked off the inaugural Super League campaign.
St.Helens in 2026 are celebrating 30 years since the historic Double, when the team secured the first-ever Super League title and the Challenge Cup trophy, beginning a period of dominance in the Summer Era of rugby league.
Workington progressed to this stage of the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup following a victory over St Helens community club, Blackbrook ARLFC. It was a valiant effort from Blackbrook in the Second Round; however, Town proved too strong, winning 28–6.
