Coronation Street star Sue Devaney is said to have been sharing her love for one of her cobbles castmates as she made a move away from the long-running show which she wouldn’t normally do.
The actress is much adored for playing hotel owner Debbie Webster in the ITV soap, a role Sue, who hails from Ashton-under-Lyne, first took on more than four decades ago when she was 16 years old.
Debbie originally moved to Coronation Street as a fifteen-year-old in 1984, with Sue the only actress to have ever portrayed the character, first from 1984 to 1985, then in 2019 before a full-time return in 2020.
But away from what’s happening on-screen with Debbie facing time behind bars after she took the blame for Carl Webster’s role in a recent horror crash which claimed the life of vicar Billy Mayhew, Sue has been seen opening up about her career and life beyond the famous cobbles in a new ‘Audience with’ show.
Sharing the news on Instagram last week, the soap star said: “I don’t normally like to talk all things me, but Shakespeare North Playhouse have given me a Sunday afternoon to do just that! Oh go on then… If I must! Come and have a sit soft and a chit chat choo with me. It’s at 2pm, and I promise you’ll be home before nightfall.”

The show then took place on Sunday (February 1) and those there have been sharing their thoughts – and outright praise – for Su on social media.
