What if there were a platform, spun out of a leading hedge fund, offering ‘multi-agent generative investment copilots (MAGIC),’ to help with the investment process? If successful, it might put some hedge fund professionals out of a job.

Fortunately, then, there may not be.

SigTech, the multigenerative AI platform that spun out of Brevan Howard in 2019 as a ‘next generation quant platform,’ seems to have been relegated to the last generation withouth anyone noticing. Its website is no longer functioning and a Companies House filing shows that founder and CEO Bin Ren was terminated as an employee in late December.

We haven’t spoken to Bin Ren for this article and Brevan Howard declined to comment.

SigTech debuted its MAGIC product at Bloomberg Invest in 2025, boasting that it could solve “domain specific problems” across macro research, equities fundamental analysis, and commercial loan underwriting. MAGIC was powered by “AI agents” based on “a carefully chosen Large Language Model,” said SigTech. Those agents could accomplish tasks autonomously.

It’s possible, then, that SigTech’s agents might still be out there somewhere, solving problems. Bin Ren may have moved on to better things. A self-confessed child prodigy, Ren’s LinkedIn profile says he was previously chief investment officer of Brevan Howard’s Systematic Investments Group, before founding Elwood Technologies to manage crypto investments for Brevan Howard in 2018. Only then did he go agentic.

It’s not clear what happened to SigTech’s other people. Speaking in 2021, Ren said SigTech employed 50 people.

The revelation that SigTech may have vanished comes as Bloomberg is reporting that Tekmerion Capital Management is spinning out of Brevan Howard less than two years after joining. The data-driven hybrid systematic macro fund will be partnering with Engineer’s Gate for infrastructure support and capital instead.
