Nicki Minaj took to X, formally known as Twitter, with a series of explosive tweets after being roasted by Grammy host Trevor Noah for cosying up to US President Donald Trump. The Super Bass singer – who has earned 12 Grammy nominations over her career but has yet to win – skipped Sunday night’s (1 February) awards ceremony, after being photographed with Trump last week as she declared herself his “number one fan.”
Former Daily Show host Trevor Noah addressed Nicki’s absence while listing the night’s best-dressed celebrities. Speaking to the audience he said, ” Nicki Minaj is not here,” before adding: “She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues.”
The 43-year-old rapper called herself President Trump’s “number one fan” last week during an event in Washington DC promoting the new Trump Gold Card visa scheme. The pair were photographed holding hands on the podium with Nicki telling the crowd: “I will say that I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change.
“And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” she continued. “It actually motivates me to support him more.”

The following evening, Nicki attended the premiere of a new documentary about the President’s wife, titled Melania: Twenty Days to History, held at Washington’s Trump-Kennedy Center, the Mirror reports. The film, which 55-year-old Melania describes as a “creative experience that offers perspectives, insights and moments that only few perceive”, follows the First Lady in the lead-up to Trump’s second inauguration.
After being mocked at Sunday night’s Grammys, Nicki took to social media to post a series of explosive statements about politics, fellow musicians and Grammy host Trevor.
In one post, she alleged that a “favourite artist” was “practising rituals in a satanic cult,” adding, “THE JIG IS UP.” In another, she claimed her documentary had been “sabotaged” by unnamed individuals or companies in the entertainment industry, writing, “they’ve been trying to stall all my projects in hopes I’d lose a bunch of money & beg them for help.”
The Pink Friday artist also went on to claim that “any Christian who votes democrat again is a fool”, before accusing Democrats of “causing distractions in the streets to distract from the billions they stole from taxpayer.”

Nicki, who was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, moved to America with her parents as a child, has previously spoken out against the Republican administration’s immigration policies.
In a Facebook status which she posted 2018, Nicki wrote: “I came to this country as an illegal immigrant @ 5 years old. I can’t imagine the horror of being in a strange place & having my parents stripped away from me at the age of 5. This is so scary to me. Please stop this. Can you try to imagine the terror & panic these kids feel right now?”
However, her political U-turn made headlines last week when she flaunted her new Trump Gold Card – an official scheme offering residency to applicants – on her X account.
According to the government’s official Trump Card website, “For a $15,000 DHS processing fee* and, after background approval, a contribution of $1 million, receive U.S. residency in record time with the Trump Gold Card.”
