Six second-round matches are scheduled on day at WTA Cluj-Napoca. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate, including Emma Raducanu vs Kaja Juvan. But which players will advance to the quarterfinals?
WTA Cluj-Napoca Day 4 Predictions
Wang Xinyu vs Rebeka Masarova
Head-to-head: Masarova 1-0 Wang
Wang Xinyu has continued her brilliant early-season form so far at WTA Cluj-Napoca as she easily dispatched Kaitlin Quevedo in the first round. Wang is hitting the ball brilliantly from the baseline, and if she can find her serve quality from the Australian Open, she could be a serious contender for the title this week. Rebeka Masarova has defeated Wang before, but the Chinese player has improved from their last meeting. Expect her to level the head-to-head.
Prediction: Wang in 3
Jaqueline Cristian vs Daria Snigur
Head-to-head: first meeting
23-year-old Daria Snigur got her first tour-level win since 2024 as she defeated the talented Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah in straight sets. Snigur has made a brilliant start to the season and has now won eight matches in all competitions. Second seed Jaqueline Cristian will represent a step up in the quality of opposition, however. The Romanian was involved in a tough battle against Lucrezia Stefanini and did well to break at the end of the third set and clinch the victory. Cristian is the favourite but must play at a high level to win this match.
Prediction: Cristian in 3
Sorana Cirstea vs Tamara Zidansek
Head-to-head: Zidansek 1-0 Cirstea
In her third and final appearance at this tournament, Sorana Cirstea finally got her first WTA Cluj-Napoca, defeating Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets to reach the second round. The Romanian hit 14 aces in the match and would have won even more comfortably if Rakhimova hadn’t saved so many break points. Cirstea is playing some of the best tennis of her career, and with the crowd support, I expect her to make a deep run. Tamara Zidansek got the better of Cirstea in their only meeting at the 2021 French Open. However, Zidansek has not displayed that level of tennis since and this should be a relatively comfortable win for Cirstea.
Prediction: Cirstea in 2
