It’s safe to say Coronation Street‘s Lisa Swain and Carla Connor have their sights set on the future, after recent drama.
With failed proposals and a sad split sparked by Lisa’s villainous ex-wife Becky Swain, fans are definitely hoping for happier times for the couple. With a Swarla wedding on the cards, as confirmed by Corrie boss Kate Brooks, upcoming scenes next week and beyond will show they have well and truly moved on from the chaos and heartache.
Our soap insider has teased Swarla are very much “back on track”, and next week a surprise seals just how Carla cares for her partner Lisa. As Carla continues to bond with stepdaughter Betsy too, there could finally be some scenes that fans have been hoping for for months, as the family look to the future.
There’s minimal mention of the trio in next week’s spoilers, but the few teasers shared could still hint at what’s ahead. Betsy’s pal Lauren Bolton is invited to a party by new love interest Ollie Driscoll.

We’ll see her confiding excitedly with Carla and Betsy about her new flame, and Betsy wastes no time in helping her friend out by offering to lend her an outfit. Viewers will no doubt be pleased to see Betsy and Carla together in scenes again.
Our soap source teased: “It’s clear Betsy loves having Carla home, and she adores spending time with her stepmother. Even a simple scene of the pair guiding Lauren, who has had a tough time herself in recent years, will highlight their close bond.
“We reckon there will be plenty more of the duo now that Swarla are very much back on track.” Later in the week this bond is once again highlighted, as Carla turns to the teenager for help.
Wanting to pull out all the stops for Lisa, she enlists her help with a “surprise”. Not only that, but she tasks Betsy with ensuring Lisa attends the Chariot Square Hotel the next day, as she’s planning a gesture of some sort at the venue.

Our insider revealed: “It seems it’s now or never for Carla. There’s been constant obstacles, with failed proposals, splits here and there and the biggest of all being Becky Swain’s reign of terror.
“But there’s happier times ahead for Lisa and Carla, and Carla’s clearly keen to show just how ready she is to move on. Carla loves Lisa, and Lisa feels the same, so it’s time for the drama, or at least most of it, to stop and for these two to be happy.
“Carla’s hopeful her latest surprise for Lisa will sweep her off her feet. What Carla has planned remains to be revealed, but she’s keen to involve Betsy.
“Her gestures in the past haven’t always gone to plan, but we’re hopeful this time it all works out for them.” Just recently, soap boss Kate confirmed a “romantic spring” was ahead for the pair, and wedding bells would ring in the not-too-distant future.

Fans are convinced an April or spring wedding is around the corner. Our source adds: “It’s time for all the heartache to be put to bed and this time, Swarla are in it for the long haul.”
There could be some drama ahead though. According to Inside Soap magazine’s latest issue, upcoming scenes will see Betsy having “big questions to answer” when she’s caught up in “a terrible situation”.
Said to be left affected by whatever happens, which isn’t revealed, it’s claimed she could “crack” as she’s put under the spotlight. Our soap source reacted: “We can’t reveal what happens here, but we don’t doubt whatever it is, Lisa and Carla will be there to support Betsy should she need it.”
