Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street hints at Jodie Ramsey’s hidden agenda next week as she destroys a touching reminder of Shona and David Platt’s wedding day. Is she secretly plotting to drive a wedge between the happy couple?

Jodie has made rapid progress reconnecting with her sister Shona since arriving in Weatherfield last month, but viewers already know that she has an ulterior motive and isn’t to be trusted. And with Jodie playing a central role in next week’s episodes, fans could be closer to getting some answers.

After initially focusing her efforts on manipulating Shona, cunning Jodie turns her attention to David in upcoming episodes. She heaps praise on him for being so welcoming since she arrived on the cobbles – although David privately confides in his brother Nick Tilsley about how he finds Jodie strange.

The next day, Jodie keeps pushing her luck. This time, she goes out of her way to make David a hot breakfast that he can take to work at the salon with him.

David thanks Jodie for the thoughtful gesture, but he’s still hiding his unease over his sister-in-law’s antics.

“It’s obvious that David doesn’t want Jodie fussing around him,” shares our Corrie source. “He felt sorry for her when they first met at the hospital and wanted to help Jodie and Shona get back on better terms.

“But with Jodie’s behaviour around the Platt house now becoming overly friendly, David starts to wonder whether he’s made a mistake by welcoming her in so easily. This stress is the last thing he needs when they should all be focusing on baby Harper.”

While everyone else is out, Jodie sets to work on dusting the living room.

There’s an unfortunate outcome when Jodie smashes David and Shona’s wedding photo, which has pride of place in the living room. Was it accidental – or has she done it on purpose?

Corrie insiders have tipped Jodie for a Single White Female-style storyline, where she tries to steal Shona’s friends and seduce David, so she’s certainly one to watch in the coming months.

“I was told Jodie had a lot of baggage and history,” shares Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, as she reflects on her early conversations about the role. “She’s definitely troubled and traumatised by her past.

“She’s deeply troubled, but she isn’t a bad person. She likes to mess around and toy with people to amuse herself, but only the ones she thinks deserve it. She has deep-rooted abandonment issues – I’d say she’s a product of what people have put her through.”

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
