Rovers have produced a short inspired by the 1984 KR team’s win over Queensland
Hull KR’s limited edition World Club Challenge shirt
To mark their appearance in the World Club Challenge later this month, Hull KR have unveiled a special limited edition shirt inspired by a famous game against Australian opposition from back in the 1983/84 season.
The treble winners host NRL Premiers Brisbane Broncos on Thursday February 19, with a sold out MKM Stadium playing host to the game between the respective champions.
Rovers will wear a special one-off kit for the game, with the kit inspired by the 1983/84 Robins, who famously beat the mighty touring Queensland side in one of the greatest matches in the club’s history. The State of Origin champions were beaten 8-6 back in 1983 in a season that would see Rovers go on to claim the league title and Premiership final double in 1984.
As such, only 1,984 shirts have been made with each individually numbered to create a special limited edition kit which is sure to be popular with supporters.
Hull KR Chief Executive Paul Lakin said: “For our historic World Club Challenge clash, we could think of no shirt design, that is more fitting, and iconic in our history than the one we will unveil. “Leaning into the spirit of ’84 and that remarkable team that beat the best of Queensland, before securing the historic double. We know we’ll need to tap into that sides spirit and be at our very best to claim the title of world champions in 2026.”
Rovers have promised a hidden ‘Easter Egg’ within the design of the shirt, which goes on sale at 6pm this evening (Feb 5) from the club’s online shop.
