Smartphone makers (Apple, in particular) love to tout how you can use their devices to shoot entire films, and Oppo is the latest one to do just that. It released a new short film in China that is shot entirely on the Find X9 Pro, its latest flagship smartphone released in October.

Oppo Find X9 Pro

The film is titled The One Who Stole Time. It’s co-written by director Yang Lina and screenwriter Qiu Yujie. It explores the emotional pressures and family dilemmas faced by young people today, using the idea of “stealing time” as a metaphor. We’ve embedded it below for your viewing pleasure, but do note that since this is aimed at the Chinese market, it is, unsurprisingly, in Chinese.

You can of course still appreciate the video recording quality that the Find X9 Pro offers, even without understanding the language. Anyway, the idea of the film is that the present is the only thing we truly own, and every choice one makes should reflect one’s true, authentic self, whatever that is.

If you’re interested in the Oppo Find X9 Pro, make sure you don’t miss our video review embedded above this paragraph, and if you want to take a deeper dive, go to our in-depth review, which also provides video samples of course.
