Fashion retailer Quiz has plunged into administration, it was announced on Thursday.
The firm said it has appointed administrators with 109 redundancies being made across its head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire.Â
Founded in 1993, Quiz has around 40 stores in the UK and seven concession stands in Ireland and currently employs around 565 people.Â
A message on the retailer’s site today read: ‘We regret to tell you that QUIZ is currently offline. Our stores will remain open for a period of time. We are grateful to everyone that has supported us over the years.’
The firm said its online store has closed for good, with a ‘stock clearance sale’ commencing across its physical outlets immediately.
Customers will not longer be refunded for returns, with items purchased from today only available to be exchanged for other goods if they are found to be faulty.
According to a statement on Quiz’s site, all gift cards are also now invalid, and anyone who has made returns online but not received the money will ‘regrettably, not receive a refund from Quiz’.Â
Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said: ‘With Quiz the latest retailer to fall into administration, there’s no doubt it’s been a tough start to 2026 for the UK high street.

‘It’s our intention to continue to trade all stores and the concessions in Ireland as a going concern for as long as we can while we assess options for the business.’
Geoff Jacobs, fellow joint administrator and managing director at Interpath, added: ‘Any parties with an interest in acquiring the stock, store operations and infrastructure of Quiz should contact us as a matter of urgency.
‘We are ensuring that those employees impacted by redundancy are provided with all available support at this difficult time.’
The firm looked at options to secure its future, including additional funding, but efforts failed, according to Interpath.Â
Last week, a Quiz spokesperson said: ‘Like many other high street retailers, we have faced significant headwinds over the past 12 months, including the impact of fragile consumer confidence and a significant increase in business rates and employer costs.
‘In response to these challenges, we have been working with our shareholders and advisors to explore the availability of additional funding to support the business.
‘While we continue to explore the options available to us, we have today filed Notices of Intention to Appoint Administrators which will give us the time we need to try and secure a positive outcome.
‘In the meantime, all our stores remain open with business as usual.’
In February last year, Quiz crashed into administration with the closure of 23 stores and the loss of almost 200 jobs.
The clothing retailer called in administrators yesterday before its founding Ramzan family bought back 42 shops, saving around 1,300 jobs.
