England’s Charley Hull says she hasn’t got anything to lose after setting up a glorious opportunity to claim her first major championship title at the AIG Women’s Open. 

Hull made a big charge up the leaderboard on moving day at Royal Porthcawl. 

The 29-year-old Brit carded a six-under 66 to move to six-under par overall, three strokes adrift of 54-hole leader Miyu Yamashita. 

South Korea’s A Lim Kim and America’s Megan Khang are also breathing down the Japanese golfer’s neck. 

But all eyes will be on Hull on Sunday, who will be looking to win her first major title on her 61st attempt. 

Hull has had a number of close calls over the years but is yet to clinch one of golf’s biggest prizes. 

She told reporters she’s got ‘nothing to lose’ and is relishing the challenge. 

“I hit it in the bunker on the first and made a good up-and-down there,” she said of her round.  

“Then I just made birdies when I gave myself an opportunity to make a birdie, apart from the last hole.”

Hull has only shared the 54-hole lead in a major championship once but this doesn’t appear to bother her. 

“I just kind of enjoy chasing” she said. “I like it. It’s more fun that way.”

She added: “[I am] 100 per cent going for it tomorrow. I’ve got nothing to lose, have I?”

Hull’s round also included a wild tee shot on the fourth hole where she almost wiped out Minjee Lee. 

Lee was preparing to hit her tee shot on the 15th hole when Hull’s golf ball landed just in front of her feet. 

“When I hit it I shouted fore right, but I said hope it’s on the tee box and it was so, it was all right. I like Minjee. I wouldn’t want to take her out.”

Elsewhere, former winner Georgia Hall and pre-tournament favourite Lottie Woad are also in the chasing pack. 

Hall is on four-under whilst Woad is a further stroke back in a share for 11th. 

World No.1 Nelly Korda is way down the leaderboard on level par.
