Don Henley has warned fans of the Eagles that the end is near, confessing that 2026 is likely to be their last year together.

Speaking in a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Henley looked toward the future of the Eagles: “You know, I think this year will probably be it,” he confessed.

He added, “And I’ve said things like that before, but I feel like we’re getting toward the end. And that will be fine too.”

When his interviewer asked for clarification as to whether 2026 will be the end of the Eagles, the founding member of the band remained stoic as he admitted, “I think so, yeah.”

Currently, the Eagles are in the midst of a record-breaking run of dates at the Las Vegas Sphere, which began on September 30th, 2024. It has been extended on multiple occasions due to demand, and will now see them perform until March 2026.

The residency at the Sphere is part of their The Long Goodbye farewell tour, which they first started in 2023. At the time, they said of their decision to retire: “The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds.”

In the new interview, Henley went on to add, “I’m okay with [the end]. Because I would like to spend more time with my family, and I would like to spend more time growing vegetables. I’ve travelled all over the world, but I haven’t seen much of it, because we see the airports and the hotel room and the venue and we don’t get out much, you know?”

As such, the musician wants to revisit some of the places he has visited, “and see more of those places, before it all disappears. Before it gets vaporised, or whatever.”

Gesturing toward his iconic band, Henley shared, “This is great, this is wonderful, but I have other things…. I have two non-profit environmental organisations that I chair,” he added as an example, before mentioning his grandchildren.

Their last show at the Sphere will take place on March 28th.

Singer-songwriter Don Henley says he thinks 2026 will be the end of The Eagles performances, “and I’m OK with that.” “I don’t ever want to have a one-dimensional life,” he tells Tracy Smith. More from their conversation airs this Sunday.
