A teenager has been charged with murder following the death of a young man in Wythenshawe.

Emergency crews were called to Southwick Road in the Northern Moor area at around 11.35pm on Thursday evening (February 5). Greater Manchester Police said officers were first alerted to reports of a ‘seriously injured man’ with ‘injuries consistent with a stabbing’.

Sadly, the man died at the scene. He has been named by friends as Drew McCormick.

Mr McCormick was believed to be aged in his 20s. Friends described him as a ‘loving funny, caring young man’.

In an update issued this morning (Saturday), a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said a teenager had now been charged with murder in connection with the incident. Lewis Morley, of Ryecroft Grove, has been charged with one count of murder.

The 19-year-old was due to appear at Manchester and Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday, February 7) He has been remanded into custody.
