The Maryport-based boxer will be on the card at BKFC Fight Night Newcastle next month.

Kanabey, nicknamed ‘The Polish Plough’, will take on Jeff Saunders in a featherweight contest.

It will be a fifth fight on the major BKFC platform for 28-year-old Kanabey, who has two wins and two defeats from his four BKFC contests to date.

Kanabey, who trains at Just Grind in Workington, earned his chance with the BKFC after impressing with title victories at the west Cumbrian WBKB shows.

He went on to defeat Shaun Kissane and Bakhtyor Kudratov in his first two BKFC fights, before losing to Jack Culshaw and Lewis Garside in his next two outings.

He will now go up against BKFC debutant Saunders at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on Saturday, March 14.

The Polish-born fighter, in his previous BKFC fights, has walked to the ring draped in a half-Polish half-Cumbrian flag.

Opponent Saunders, from Sedgefield, County Durham, is a former professional boxer and amateur champion, and an ex-paratrooper.

Kanabey will be the second Cumbrian to feature on the BKFC Fight Night Newcastle card.

Also in action will be Carlisle bantamweight Kieron Sewell, who faces a title eliminator bout against Lewis Garside.
