One of the UK’s fastest rising music stars has been added to the bill at Plymouth’s Ruckus Music Festival this summer.

Liam C will perform at the festival, headlined by the Hoosiers, at Plymouth Albion’s Bickfields stadium, on Friday and Saturday July 3 and 4.

A festival spokesperson said: “Ruckus Festival continues to build momentum following a series of major lineup announcements, with Liam C bringing one of the most compelling new-artist stories in British music to the festival stage.”

A working-class, DIY musician from Colchester, Liam C’s rise has been anything but conventional. Arriving in London with no money, no industry connections and nowhere to live, he survived by moving between hostels and couches, busking with a ukulele, and performing anywhere someone would listen.

Armed with original songs, a smartphone and relentless determination, Liam built his audience from the ground up. His journey gained national attention through a series of audacious viral moments, including famously sneaking backstage at Glastonbury 2024 to perform for Dua Lipa, and later crossing paths with Ed Sheeran, who spent time listening to his early material and offering advice.

These moments helped propel Liam’s music and story into the wider public consciousness. Musically, Liam C blends high-energy pop with rap-tinged, autobiographical storytelling, reflecting themes of survival, hustle and chasing the dream.

His debut single Dolla Dolla has already surpassed 100,000 streams, while follow-up tracks including Bang Bang and Tina have fuelled a rapidly growing fanbase.

Liam currently boasts 150,000 followers on TikTok, 2.7 million likes, and is number six in Spotify’s Viral Songs chart, with Tina ranking among the platform’s most-shared tracks right now.

His Glastonbury content alone generated millions of views, earning him a feature in TikTok’s official newsletter alongside global stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Lewis Capaldi, Charli XCX and Raye.

The Ruckus spokesperson said: “Talked about like the next Ed Sheeran, this could be your chance to catch a star as they make their way up the music ladder on your very doorstep.

“And with two-day early bird tickets currently just £40 this is a no-brainier for music fans in Plymouth.

“Liam C represents the spirit of modern independent music – authentic, fearless and built from the ground up.”

Pop-rock band The Hoosiers, most famous for hit single Worried About Ray, will top the bill on Saturday, July 4. It will be the first time the band has played in Plymouth.

Four acts have been named for Friday, July 3, which will focus on tribute acts and feature Ten Years Too Late, the “UK’s number one emo experience”; L1NKN P4RK, Stiff Bizkit and Foo Fighterz.
