ITV viewers can look forward to their next compelling espionage drama Betrayal, starring Endeavour legend Shaun Evans and Vigil’s Romola Garai in leading roles.
The anticipation ends as Betrayal, produced by the team behind ITV‘s Code of Silence, broadcasts tonight, Sunday, February 8, at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
This four-part drama centres on MI5 officer John Hughes (portrayed by Shaun Evans) who arranges to meet a British-Iranian source claiming intelligence about an imminent terrorist attack.
Plans go catastrophically awry when the informant is murdered before their meeting, forcing John to fatally shoot the killer in self-defence.
He subsequently faces rigorous scrutiny from MI5’s internal affairs, leading him to doubt both the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether he should continue in the profession.
