An investigation has been launched following a mass brawl during a non-league football match. Footage has emerged on social media of players, coaching staff and supporters involved in violent scenes during the FA Vase tie between home side Bilston Town and Droylsden FC.
One video shows a player throwing punches at spectators as a woman tries to hold him back. A separate video shows what appears to be a coach being chased across the pitch and then striking a non-player, who then falls to the ground.
The unsavoury scenes occurred at the end of the match, which Droylsden won 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals, just two rounds away from a Wembley final. A statement from West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after a violent disorder at Bilston Town Football Club on Queen Street yesterday.

Bilston released a statement about the incident and confirmed an investigation had been launched in conjunction with Droylsden.
Their statement said: “We understand that there is a video or videos shared by people from the game today. We would like to state that this is not a fair reflection of the game or day as a whole.
“As a club we are in the process of investigating all footage from today’s game. We would like to thank the supporters of @Droylsden_FC for their cooperation.”
They later added: “The Club is aware of an incident that occurred following the conclusion of yesterday’s FA Vase fixture against Droylsden FC. We are extremely concerned by the events that took place.
“The safety and wellbeing of players, staff, officials, and spectators is of paramount importance to the Club.
“The matter has been reported to the police, and we are fully cooperating with their investigation. We have also notified the relevant authorities and an internal review is underway.
“Pending the outcome of these investigations, the Club will be taking immediate interim steps in line with our procedures. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.
“The Club will not be making any further comment at this time.”

Meanwhile, Droylsden made no reference to the incident straight after the match and thanked Bilston for their hospitality. They posted: “THANK YOU! Many thanks to @BilstonTownFC for their hospitality, and all the best for the rest of the season.
“To all you Bloods who made the trip down, THANK YOU for your tremendous support, and safe journeys home!”
