Engineering work will be taking place across weekends in March, affecting services to/from London Liverpool Street.

They will be renewing and repairing parts of the very busy line, which means that London Liverpool Street mainline station will close for 5 days.

They will be carrying out platform work across numerous stations, such as Chadwell Heath, Harold Wood, and Manor Park, as well as track renewal near Ilford station and Gidea Park.

The concourse at London Liverpool Street will be closed to allow for roof work to take place and drainage to be improved.

Equipment and materials that are no longer needed will be removed, with vegetation, drainage, and tamping works also going on.

The work will be carried out on:

Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March

Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March

Greater Anglia and c2c services will be affected by this work, and the Elizabeth line will see closures across the weekend in March between Stratford and Shenfield.

The London Overground Weaver line will also be impacted.

Journeys can be checked before travel with the operator or via National Rail.

“I’m sorry that our work will impact weekend passenger journeys in March.

“There is never a good time to close the railway, but our planned work will deliver an extensive amount of renewals, repairs, maintenance and surveys on these busy, well used routes into London Liverpool Street.

“Much of the work needs to be done while trains are not running to keep our staff safe, and we are maximising the time we have to do as much as we can.”

Katie Frost, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia
