Finally, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank was asked about the role of the fans and the part they can play at home to Newcastle on Tuesday, with some hostile moments in recent weeks:
“I can say we desperately need them, because when you are in a situation when it’s not going straightforward you need the fans more.
“So we need the fans tomorrow, massively, to back the team…
“Of course we need to perform. If they see a team that’s running and fighting and doing everything to help; when they do everything to help, that creates those magic moments.
“I refer that to the [Man] City game but also the [Borussia] Dortmund game. That was fantastic to be there.
“And that we need tomorrow because, of course, when you’re down to the bear bones with not many players, not that straightforward, then you need to push together.”
