Three Super League players have been charged by disciplinary on the eve of the new season.
Top flight clubs played their first competitive games of the season over the weekend as they entered the Challenge Cup at the third round stage.
All 13 Super League sides involved picked up wins against lower league opposition and most did so without breaking a sweat, in all honesty.
Hull KR, St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity all scored more than 80 points on their way to victory in the cup, while the likes of Hull FC, Leigh Leopards and Catalans Dragons cruised to wins, too, to seal their place in the hat for tonight’s fourth round draw.
Clubs did pick up injury issues and some players will miss the opening round of Super League at least as a result. As such, the last thing Super League head coaches will want to see today is disciplinary action from the Match Review Panel.

Fortunately, though, only three player have received charges ahead of round one and none of those sanctions have resulted in a suspension.
Super League disciplinary ahead of round one
York Knights will be able to breathe a sigh of relief this afternoon following the Match Review Panel’s decision not to charge Paul McShane. The hooker was shown a red card for fighting on Saturday during the club’s clash with Barrow Raiders, but he hasn’t been punished further with the panel clearly believing no further action was required.
They have handed Paul Vaughan a Grade A charge for raising a knee in a tackle, though. The charge comes with one penalty point, which takes the Australian’s tally to 1.5 points over the last 12 months.
Bradford Bulls have collected the other two charges, with Dan Russell and Eribe Doro being hit with the same Grade A late contact on the passer charge.
Both players have been handed one penalty point, with Russell’s 12 month tally now standing at 1.5 points, while Doro’s is at 1.25.
The three players above who have been charged will all be eligible to feature in round one, with York getting the Super League season underway against champions Hull KR, while Bradford travel to Hull FC on Saturday night.
