The discovery was made by a walker on Felixstowe beach and the pictures shared online this morning.
The marine mammal is most likely a harbour porpoise, because of its small size and blunt head, compared to the “beak” of a dolphin.
They are found all around the UK coastline, with them being spotted close to the shore in shallow water.
Strong winds and rough waters can lead to the mammals washing up on the shores.

Last February, a porpoise was also found on a beach in Felixstowe, the body of an adult seal was found in Southwold, and a common dolphin washed up in Kessingland.
If you find a deceased animal on a beach, it should be reported to the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme on 0800 652 0333.
You should give a description of the location and date found, overall length, condition of the animal, as well as your contact details, should further information be needed.
