A section of a major road was cordoned off tonight, February 9, after a car crashed into a building. Merseyside Police were called to Smithdown Road in Wavertree shortly after 8.30pm following reports of a crash.

Emergency services arrived to find a red Nissan Qashqai had struck the shutters of Property Link, causing visible damage to the shutters. A police spokesperson confirmed officers attended the scene to “assess the damage” and clear the area. No injuries were reported.

Two fire engines from Mersey Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance. A cordon was put in place outside the building while the incident was dealt with.

Photographs show a metal barrier has been uprooted and the shutters at the front of Property Link are damaged.

A spokesperson for MFRS said: “Fire crews were called to Smithdown Road, Wavertree, following reports of a car hitting a building.

“Crews were alerted at 8.41pm and arrived on scene at 8.46pm, with two fire engines in attendance.

“On arrival, crews found no further action was required.

“Merseyside Police were already at the scene and had established a cordon. All occupants had left the building safely.

“Crews left the scene in the hands of police at 8.59pm.”
