Northamptonshire Steelbacks wicketkeeper Lewis McManus has stepped down as captain of the One-Day Cup side.

McManus, who was appointed one-day skipper in 2023, has taken the decision to step back after leading the side in the past three campaigns.

“Lewis has worked extremely hard over the past couple of years and we’re very thankful for his service as captain and for all of the help he has provided the younger players in particular,” said head coach Darren Lehmann.

The 31-year-old, who scored 110 runs and took four catches in last year’s competition, joined the club from Hampshire in 2022.

“He’s still an important player and leader within the group and we’re looking forward to him having a strong summer,” Lehmann added.

Northants have said a decision on McManus’ successor will be made closer to this year’s competition.
