International recording artist and voice coach to the stars Michael Dore is returning home to Grimsby and partnering with Acting Lincs to launch The Singers Surgery. Michael, who has coached Hollywood stars such as Emma Watson and Taron Egerton and Broadway star Jeremy Jordan, will be leading two Singers’ Surgeries during which local singers will have the opportunity to work with him and fix any vocal niggles, improve technique or just build vocal confidence.
Michael, one of the UK’s leading vocal coaches, will work on technique and also build vocal confidence in the three-hour, workshop-style surgeries. Michael coached Emma Watson for her performance as Belle in Disney’s Beauty And The Beast and Taron Egerton for his performance in the Elton John biopic Rocketman.
He will now bring his experience and knowledge to work with local singers who want to fix something that is troubling them about their voice. The Singers Surgery is a collaboration between Michael and Acting Lincs, a Lincolnshire-based organisation that focuses on providing quality training in the performing arts for Lincolnshire-based talent.
Michael said: “I love coming home to Grimsby as often as I can. Over the years I have performed many concerts at the Grimsby Central Hall and more recently Grimsby Minster. I’m really looking forward to working with the vocal talent from Lincolnshire at the Singers Surgery.
“I love fixing problems with voices. If there is a note you are struggling to hit, you are struggling with breathing or just need to work on an audition song then the Singers Surgery is for you.”

Acting Lincs first launched a Singers Surgery for Sunday, March 8 at Grimsby Central Hall on social media. The event sold out within hours.
A second surgery has now been launched for Saturday, March 7, to be held at Blaze Studios in Grimsby. Acting Lincs founder Lee Waddingham said: “I am thrilled that Michael agreed to collaborate with us and be the first guest vocal coach at our Singers Surgery.
“I’ve known of Michael’s work and pedigree for many years; however, it was only recently through mutual friends that I actually met him. I pitched the idea to him and he loved it and luckily was able to find a date in his busy schedule that worked.
“The response has been very exciting with the first surgery selling out in hours. Because of such demand I asked Michael if he would be willing to run a second surgery as we had many messages from disappointed singers who wanted to sign up.
“The second surgery has already sold 50 per cent of its available space. It’s great to see so many incredible local singers taking advantage of the opportunity to be trained by Michael who is such a talent and also a great advocate for local talent.”
Michael’s international career began with the Swingle Singers. Since then he has toured throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Centre, Canada, Europe, Asia and South Africa. He has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the Berlin & New York Philharmonics.
Michael has also worked extensively with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, including appearing regularly at the Royal Albert Hall, opening London’s Cadogan Hall & “Food of Love” (the Shakespeare music of Nigel Hess) alongside Dame Judi Dench, Sir Patrick Stewart, Robert Lindsay, Zoe Wanamaker & Gemma Arterton. Michael frequently appears on BBC Radio’s Friday Night is Music Night with the BBC Concert Orchestra and in cabaret at London’s Pheasantry & The Crazy Coqs.
He has also been vocal coach on ITV’s The X Factor and BBC1’s Any Dream Will Do. Tickets for The Singers Surgery with Michael Dore on Saturday, March 7, 2pm to 5pm, can be booked by visiting actinglincs.co.uk/bookings
