Hull KR head coach Willie Peters is ready for a big 2026 after recently celebrating a personal milestone.

Willie Peters has hailed his tenure in charge of Hull KR as “an incredible journey” after recently celebrating his 100th match as head coach.

The 46-year-old officially began his role ahead of the 2023 Super League season and has since overseen significant growth for the Robins both on and off the field. That progress was highlighted by last year’s historic treble-winning campaign, which also saw Peters become the first coach to win back-to-back Super League Coach of the Year awards.

The 100 milestone was marked in emphatic fashion with Hull KR’s record-breaking 104-0 Challenge Cup victory over community club Lock Lane in the third round of the competition, launching the start of their title defence.

“It goes quickly, 100 games. It’s obviously my fourth year now, and it’s been an incredible journey so far, with many highs during that time and challenges as well,” Peters said.

“I’m always learning and wanting to get better. I’m very fortunate to have the group I’ve got, along with the support from the board, the staff and the playing group.

“The fan base as well – the support I received before I came over, with messages about what East Hull is all about – gave me an understanding of what it meant to them nice and early.

“Nothing has changed for us. It’s about making them proud, and we’ll continue to do that.”

The daily grind of pre-season is now complete, with Super League’s opening fixture awaiting as newcomers York Knights host defending champions Hull KR at the LNER Community Stadium.

Belief is sky-high that the Robins can deliver another outstanding campaign, with all three trophies proudly on display at Sewell Group Craven Park – and the opportunity to add another later this month in the World Club Challenge.

“We’ve worked hard across pre-season,” Peters added. “We’re known for having physical and demanding pre-seasons. I’m a massive believer that’s where you set up your season.

“I believe we’re in a strong position to do well, and that’s because of the pre-season. But that means nothing – Thursday night is what matters, how we play and our actions.

“I’m looking forward to making sure we set the tone nice and early for how we want to play this season.”
