The grieving daughter of a woman once caught in a love triangle with singer Amy Winehouse has paid a heartbreaking tribute to her ‘beautiful mum’, saying life will be ‘so boring’ without her.

Sarah Aspin, 47, who went on to have a relationship with Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, was found dead at her modest council house in Leeds, West Yorks.

Her death on Saturday morning is being treated as ‘unexplained’ by detectives.

Ms Aspin was already a mother of two when she met Fielder-Civil in 2011, following the collapse of his turbulent marriage to the Back To Black star, who died later that year.

The couple went on to have two children together before reportedly splitting in 2018.

Following the tragedy, her eldest daughter paid tearful tributes to her mother on social media.

Sharing childhood pictures and videos of the pair together, Melody-Rose Hampshire wrote: ‘Love and miss you forever and always mum.

‘Rest in eternal peace. Life [is] going to be boring without you in it.’

In another tribute on Facebook, she added: ‘No words at all. love you so [much] mum.

‘May you rest in eternal peace, my beautiful mum.

‘Doesn’t seem real. [I] just want you here and speak to you about your crazy antics.’

Ms Aspin’s body was discovered at her ground floor maisonette in the Swillington area of Leeds at around 8am after police were called to a ‘concern for safety’ report.

Paramedics treated her at the scene but she was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man found at the property was taken into custody for an offence not related to her death.

Police and forensic officers remained at the address until Sunday evening, while flowers were later left outside the front door in tribute.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I was passing by the flat at around 8am on Saturday.

‘That’s when I saw the police swarming the property and I thought to myself, something was up.

‘Sarah lived in that house alone but a man I believed to be her partner would often go round.

‘They hadn’t put up a cordon or tape or anything. It just seemed like they were searching the house. It is unclear what has happened, but it is tragic.’

Ms Aspin first met Fielder-Civil during a spell in rehab in 2009, while he continued his on-off relationship with Winehouse into 2010.

The couple welcomed son Jack in May 2011, following by daughter Lola-Rose in April 2013, though their relationship was overshadowed by his tangled love life.

Ms Aspin even warned Amy to ‘keep her hands off’ her boyfriend – warning her: ‘He is mine and we are a family now.’

Ms Aspin’s cousin Leanne Eastwood wrote on social media: ‘Sweet dreams to my beautiful cousin Sarah Aspin. Hope you finally found peace. Till we meet again. Gutted.’

Several other neighbours confirmed seeing emergency services at the flat over the weekend before they left evening.

One said: ‘What has happened is sad. It has rocked the community, it is a nice, quiet area. We have lots of elderly residents, and young families.

‘We are all friendly, we feel safe living here. Seeing police like that isn’t a common sight.’

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ‘Police are continuing enquiries following the death of a woman at a property in the Swillington area of Leeds.

‘Officers were called to an address in Primrose Hill Drive at 6.38am on Saturday 7 February, following a concern for safety report.

‘A woman was treated by paramedics at the scene but died a short time later. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.’

Ms Aspin previously spoke after Amy’s death in July 2011 about the emotional impact on Fielder-Civil as he remained behind bars in HMP Armley in Leeds.

She said at the time, following a visit to the prison: ‘He is devastated and shattered. He just can’t take it in that she’s dead and he’ll never see her again.

‘Blake rang me on Saturday after the prison authorities told him she’d died.

‘I just couldn’t console him. He was in total shock.

‘Blake is the father of our son. But I saw him and Amy together and I know they were really in love and they were soulmates.

‘She always loved him and he always loved her – but it was just never going to work.

‘Basically they couldn’t live with each other and they could not live without each other.

‘It is hard for me knowing he still loved her, but I do understand his feelings.’

Sarah added: ‘I think Amy could not get over the fact that Blake and I had had our son Jack. I think it hit her pretty hard.

‘She would have made a fantastic mum, though, despite all her problems. What’s happened is so tragic – an absolute waste.’

Fielder-Civil began a whirlwind romance with Amy when they met in 2005.

Amy wrote hit singles You Know I’m No Good and Back To Black about their tumultuous relationship and divorce in 2009.
