A rare turtle which washed up in Jersey following Storm Goretti has landed in the UK after travelling via plane for rehabilitation.

Crush, a loggerhead turtle, was given treatment at New Era Veterinary Hospital in St Saviour after she was found extremely weak and suffering from malnutrition.

Vets said the turtle could not handle a ferry journey so airline Loganair offered to transport her by plane to Southampton.

Claudine Kirk, from Loganair, said the creature had to be taken to a separate area to be searched “as we can’t put her through the security scanners”.
