If you’re someone who constantly misplaces keys and wallets, you’ve probably wished countless times for an easy way to find them rather than turning your home upside down only to discover they’ve slipped beneath a cushion. Thankfully, Apple has a remedy to this predicament through its AirTags.

These compact battery-powered discs can be attached to or tucked into a wide variety of belongings, enabling you to monitor them using the Find My app on your iPhone. At present, Amazon is offering customers the chance to buy a four-pack of AirTags for £69, down from £119 – equating to £17.25 each.

As an alternative, you can purchase an individual Apple AirTag for £28 – over £10 more expensive than when bought as part of a four-pack. A twin pack is currently available for £56 rather than £70 – costing £28 per tag.

These practical white devices feature tracking capabilities and speakers, enabling you to emit a sound through them for easy finding. Via the Find My app, you can also use precision tracking to help pinpoint the exact whereabouts of the AirTag and whatever item it’s secured to.

For those worried about the device’s longevity, Apple’s AirTags boast a battery life exceeding one year, after which you simply need to swap out the small and affordable CR5 battery. Should you intend to fasten the AirTag to your keyring or suitcase, you’ll probably require an accessory to help attach them, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Thankfully, you can also pick up an AirTag Holder case for as low as £7.98 each from Amazon. PESTON’s AirTag holder is available in multiple colours to complement your style, including pink, yellow, blue, and black and is crafted from soft silicone material which also claims to be shockproof, offering additional protection for the AirTag against accidental knocks or other damage.

Bear in mind however that Apple AirTags are only compatible with iPhones operating iOS 14.5 or later, so may not work with older iPhone versions. Nevertheless, they reportedly function with iPhone models dating back to the iPhone 6, which can still support iOS 14.5.

If you’re after a tracker but don’t require Apple’s own device, you might consider the cheaper Aowaka F2 Air Tag on Amazon, which currently costs just £19.99 for a four-pack following an 80% discount. This offers similar functionality to AirTags and also features IP67 waterproof rating whilst being offered in a full black colour.

Alternatively, you could select the Aowaka Air Tracker Tags, which are currently £10 for a four-pack. These tracking devices are distinctive as they come pre-fitted with their own keyring attachment, removing the requirement to purchase additional accessories.

Customers who bought Apple’s AirTags have praised their performance and seamless compatibility with their phone, with one buyer saying: “Apple AirTag is one of those products you don’t realize you need until you have it. Setup was incredibly easy, and it works seamlessly with my iPhone.

“The tracking is fast and accurate, and the Precision Finding feature is seriously impressive – it’s saved me so much time looking for my keys and wallet. The design is small, sleek, and durable, and the battery lasts ages. Simple, smart, and super reliable. Definitely worth it.”

Another purchaser remarked: “Does exactly as it says and is very versatile in use. I’ve used it in luggage, in my purse and even as a cat tracker briefly! It’s small and compact as well as being very light. Replacement batteries are also easy to obtain.”

A third customer commented: “We use the AirTags a lot, especially for use in luggage when travelling. The batteries last a while but I don’t believe the claims they last as long as they do, as I’ve had to replace the batteries in 3 of these. They are well made with great quality materials. The sound carries far and even if burried in a bag or somewhere far in the house, you will hear it! Very small and lightweight, great for putting in luggage without adding to the weight at all really.”

However, not all customers were satisfied with their purchase, with one buyer commenting: “Bought these to update the older generic ones I had. I’ve used an Airtag on my wallet for a few years and it’s been great (with iphone 11). Gutted to have just found out that my new 16e can’t do precise location! ! ? ? ! As such the cheap alternatives will work just as well.”

Another purchaser remarked: “I ordered two Apple AirTags and one would not work until I changed the battery. Not very promising for how long the other one will last. It makes the cost of the AirTag more expensive.”

A third customer stated: “The tracker is slow to update its location, sometimes stuck on a spot from 8 hours ago. I got it for a stray cat we feed, assuming it would refresh every few minutes like the iPhone’s People Tracker, which was my mistake for expecting too much from a simple device. Unfortunately, because the updates aren’t frequent, the location often isn’t accurate enough to know when the stray is nearby.”
