Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has seen Robert Sugden had a change of heart regarding handing over his share of the farm to the Tates, as he vowed to reclaim control of it in a recent twist. Viewers know that Robert and Victoria had been forced to sell their shares after being blackmailed by Joe, who had proof that Victoria had killed villain John.

In tonight’s (12 February) scenes, Victoria was thrown over the edge when Aaron informed her the undertakers had just delivered John’s ashes.

Despite Robert begging her to stay, Victoria was determined to leave for Portugal with Harry so they could have a fresh start.

The siblings haven’t been seeing eye to eye lately. Victoria is furious at Robert, who caved to Joe’s threats and reluctantly agreed to plant some incriminating evidence to link Moira Dingle to John and Celia’s murders.

At the Woolpack, Tracy spotted the ashes urn that Robert had brought with him. She insisted that it’d be cathartic and satisfying to flush John’s ashes down the toilet, ignoring Robert’s protestations.

As soon as the remains were gone, Aaron and Victoria entered the bathroom and realised in shock what Tracy had done.

This led to another tense confrontation between Robert and Victoria, but Aaron attempted to mediate later on, inviting Victoria to see a different side to their family story.

Aaron gave Victoria some food for thought, reminding her that Robert has always felt left out due to their family dynamics, but never held her mistakes against her.

Victoria mulled over what Aaron had told her and apologised to Robert for letting him down “again”.

“And I’m so sorry that I didn’t listen to you about John,” she said, to which Robert urged her to reconsider her plan and fight for the farm.

“There’s nothing to fight for! All we’ve got is dirty money, bad memories, and no farm,” she said, adding that she needed to put her son Harry first.

“I can’t be a good mum here,” she finally said, but promised she’d be back.

Robert let her go, saying that everything would be “different” once she returns.

Taking a walk in the fields to clear his head, Robert found the stone with the name Emmerdale Farm engraved across, which brought him back to his youth. As Aaron caught up with him, Robert made him a promise, assuring him he’d build their farm back up.

“We’ll build it all back up,” he said. “And no one’s ever gonna take it away again.”

Meanwhile, Victoria star Isabel Hodgins has taken to Instagram to post a picture with Robert actor Ryan Hawley on set, captioned: “That’s a wrap.”

Hodgins has gone on maternity leave, taking her first break from the soap in 20 years, as she readies to welcome her first child with husband Adam Whitehead.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
