There’s nothing sweeter than watching an animal take in a baby of another species. One llama, Couscous, lost his family before being rescued by Maverick Hooves Sanctuary. He was joined by two baby goats, Chase and Higgins, which was captured in a TikTok video. “Look at these sweeties. The boys love their llama nanny and follow him wherever he goes. It’s really precious and unexpected,” the caption explains. The trio hang together in the barn in the video, presumably to protect themselves from the cold snap that’s hit the area.
We also got the rescue’s take on the situation, “Seeing the love animals give to one another is something I find sacred and healing, especially when it’s between different species. Shows me that it really doesn’t matter who you are because you’re worthy of love and we can find it in unexpected places if we are willing.”
Viewer @Lucy kicked us off with, “That’s their llama mama,” and @Glass Shoes 65 responded, “Thank you getting that stuck in my head lol.” Although we feel the need to point out that Couscous is a boy llama. “Sweetest babies,” @ammkk21 followed it up, praising the little guys. These two goats in their jackets are a sight to behold.
Finally, @jeannolan664 gave us a meaningful thought to close on, “Helping animals is an act of profound goodness that benefits both the animals themselves and the human spirit.”

All About Llamas
The first thing to know about llamas is that they are cousins to camels. Like their humped brethren, they were bred as pack animals and “can carry as much as 200 pounds for 12 hours a day,” according to the Racine Zoo. While they’re native to South America, this species does well in other places.
Interestingly, llamas actually make great livestock guardians. Mother Earth News explains, “Llamas are naturally aggressive towards foxes, coyotes, and dogs, as well as some other predators. This protection will extend itself to the llama’s companions.” That’s probably why Couscous does such a good job nannying for Chase and Higgins.
