A new audiology hub has opened at Specsavers in South Harrow following a £50,000 investment, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Deputy Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Yogesh Teli.
The locally owned store has been part of the South Harrow high street for more than 20 years. The new hearing hub includes a soundproof booth and dedicated testing room where customers can have their hearing checked, along with equipment for wax removal.
Welcoming guests to the launch were store directors Hiral Kotecha, an ophthalmic optician, and Alok Kotecha, retail director.
Alok Kotecha said: ‘We’re thrilled that Cllr Teli can join us today and officially launch the new audiology hub.
‘It means a lot to us to be able to offer further healthcare services to the South Harrow community. Our audiology team will carry out full private and NHS assessments, which will help to alleviate pressure on the NHS.’
The hearing hub will be led by newly appointed partner in development, audiologist Hajbar Ebrhimgeel.

Hajbar said: ‘I’m delighted to be part of the team and I’m looking forward to providing audiology care across the South Harrow community, including offering customers hearing consultations and guidance around hearing accessories.’
Also attending the launch were guests including Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity ambassador Louise Halvey and her cocker spaniel, Flora. Louise spoke with customers about the charity’s work training dogs to alert people who are deaf to everyday and emergency sounds such as doorbells, alarm clocks and fire alarms, as well as helping people feel less isolated.
Following the ceremony, the Deputy Mayor was given a tour of the new facilities and met staff and guests.
The store includes three test rooms, dedicated diagnostic areas and a contact lens station. Sight test clinics run daily, with audiology clinics held from Sunday to Thursday.

Specsavers South Harrow has also installed OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) equipment, which creates a 3D image of the back of the eye to help identify serious eye conditions earlier.
The store continues to offer NHS-funded eye tests for eligible patients, including children, those in full-time education under 19, and people aged over 60 who also qualify for free hearing checks.
