Watson has been the subject of substantial interest and he’s spoken out on it for the first time

David Watson has been quizzed directly on the interest in his services – with Celtic and Aberdeen among the clubs keeping tabs after Bolton Wanderers saw a £500,000 bid booted out.
The in-form midfielder has been a central part of their recent revival under Neil McCann but at one stage in the January window it appeared as if his days at the club were numbered.
Clubs across Scotland and beyond have been watching him closely with both the Hoops and the Dons said to be considering moves in the summer when his contract expires.
Killie will be due substantial compensation for their homegrown talent, who has already scored 13 times in 130 games for them despite only turning 21 in December.
Bolton tried to beat other prospective bidders to the punch during the January window but Record Sport broke the news their £500,000 bid was instantly shown the door.
Now he’s been asked directly about it – and says it’s been left to his agent as he focuses on keeping Kilmarnock in the Premiership.
He said: “I’m not dealing with (the interest), it’s my agent who will do that.
“I’m just focused on what I’m doing and I’ll take it day by day and game by game. I wasn’t aware of what was going on during the window.
“I was focusing on what I had to do on the pitch. Even when I was suspended I was still at the games. I always focus on Kilmarnock before anything else.
“It’s the type of person I am. I’m not fussed about outside noise. I’d rather concentrate on what’s happening on the pitch, it’s the same now.”
Watson and Killie will face Celtic on Sunday as they look to bridge the gap to Dundee in 10th and move further clear of bottom side Livingston.
