Another brutal death is looming on Coronation Street, and five characters are in serious danger.

A month on from the shocking murder of vicar Billy Mayhew during the Corriedale crossover, another Weatherfield resident will meet a gruesome end. It’s not yet clear who that is, but five characters are up for the whodunnit-style chop.

Those characters will not be confirmed until the episode airs on Monday, but it has been confirmed whoever it is is murdered. That means we can expect motives and a cause of death, maybe even a weapon.

All will be revealed in time, while we also know that the murder itself doesn’t happen until two months later. While we see a body has been found on Monday, it’s soon confirmed that the scenes are set in April.

The episode begins with a numb Betsy Swain being questioned by police officers after finding a death body. As she answers their questions, it’s not yet clear if we see the body.

This seems unlikely as it might give away who dies. By the end of the episode, fans will be shown the five potential victims in present day, while scenes do cut back to the future in the flashforward.

One of the five shown victims will die, marking their exit from the soap in just two months’ time. Who has been murdered and why remains to be seen, and with that we have yet to establish the killer.

It seems when it comes to April and the scene actually airing, we will see who dies and possibly how they are killed. That said, we won’t see who kills them as a whodunnit is thought to be happening with suspects.

Between now and then it’s expected to be teased what might lead to each possible victim’s demise, and who might be out to get them. Then when the April episode airs, the actual victim will be confirmed.

We can then narrow down all the suspects for that person, and piece together all the clues. Whether it will become obvious in that episode who has committed the crime, we will just have to wait and see.

Viewers have already been sharing their theories about the victims and who might die. Strong suspicions currently tease that villains Theo Silverton and Carl Webster will be the one killed.

Theo killed Billy, while he’s also abusing his partner Todd Grimshaw. As for Carl, he’s allowed his sister, who is actually his biological mum, Debbie Webster to go to prison after he crashed into Billy’s van.
