If you have ever dreamed of shaving seconds off your morning commute – then this £1.4m Georgian townhouse could be your ticket.

The five-bedroom property sits directly beside Kennington Tube Station in south London – and online sleuths have discovered that clicking the Street View link lands you on the Underground platform itself.

In reality, the four-storey home’s close proximity to the Tube entrance seems to be proving less of a selling point than hoped.

The property was first listed last month for £1.55 million – only to have £151,000 lopped off the price two weeks later.

It quickly became fodder on an online forum, where users revel in sharing eyebrow-raising property finds.

One commenter joked: ‘The house must come with a direct lift to the platforms’, while another teased: ‘Least they wouldn’t have to dust the shelves that often – all those vibrations won’t give dust a chance to settle.’

A third added: ‘Surprisingly quiet – for three out of every 7 minutes’.

Despite its position near to the busy Northern Line the estate agent described the 2,500 sq ft property as ‘a remarkable four-bedroom family home’.

Agents Dexters Kennington crowed: ‘Spread over five floors this versatile home is in excellent condition and ready for the next buyers to make it their own.

‘Set back beyond secure gates and directly next door to Kennington Tube Station, this surprisingly quiet location is perfect for those seeking quick links into the West End and everything London has to offer.’

The blurb, however, was mocked by house-hunters online.

One wrote on Reddit: ‘Listing states ‘surprisingly quiet’. If anyone believes that they deserve to buy it.’

Another added: ‘Possibly the finest bit of Estate Agent double talk I’ve ever seen’, while a third joked: ‘Do you get Oyster card discount if you live that close?

‘On the plus side, if you miss your train you can probably hear the doors closing from your kitchen and still make it.’

And a fourth stated: ‘The Street View really tells the story.

‘Being that close to the station seems like a major downside, not a perk, and the cheap finishes inside just don’t justify the price tag at all. It feels like a flip that missed the mark on quality and liveability.’

The house, available with no onward chain, can be seen in street view images with commuters milling around the tube entrance.

One viewer said: ‘God can you imagine the noise of all the people constantly. Not for me.’
