A teenage e-biker carrying two knives was rushed to hospital following a crash involving a suspected drug driver. Emergency services were called out to a crash involving a green BMW X2 and a Surron e-bike on Barlow Moor Road, in Chorlton, on Saturday night (February 14).
The major road was closed off by 8pm, close to Southern Cemetery. Police and paramedics were called out to the scene, with an air ambulance also seen landing nearby as part of the response.
Greater Manchester Police says the e-bike rider, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to Salford Royal Infirmary with non-life-threatening injuries. He was found to be in possession of a machete and a locking knife at the crash scene.

Meanwhile, the BMW driver was breathalysed and drug-swabbed at the scene. GMP says it is believed the driver was under the influence of cannabis, and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
The man’s age is yet to be confirmed. Enquiries remain ongoing today (Sunday), GMP says. Barlow Moor Road reopened overnight.
Images from the scene showed the BMW with significant damage to the driver’s side and its airbags deployed. The e-bike could also be seen on the ground, alongside items of clothing.
