This is the awe-inspiring moment that Wales fans at The Principality Stadium delivered a stunning version of the Welsh national anthem sung completely a cappella.

Following a light show, the team and fans in attendance at the home of Welsh rugby delivered the memorable rendition of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, leaving TV viewers with goosebumps before play even began in their clash against France.

One person wrote on X: “Absolutely incredible a cappella performance of the Welsh national anthem. If nothing else, they’ll always have that.” Don’t miss a rugby story, sign up for our newsletter.

Another added: “The Welsh national anthem gets me riled up and I’m not even Welsh.”

The national rugby side previously delivered the anthem without accompanying music against New Zealand in November last year, something that was equally well received.

The Welsh football team often sings the anthem without music. Many fans have long called for it to be made a permanent feature at rugby matches too.

It was a special moment despite the gloom surrounding the game at the moment, with thousands of tickets unsold for the match and large gaps of empty seats visible in the top tier.
